Welcome to Extreme Emptiness which is where we all start our journey, finding stability and root in order to align ourselves.
RESPIRATORY
Qigong breathwork supports our body by acting as a “fire in the cauldron,” refining and cultivating energy, inner breath, and spirit—nurturing our center. Through mindful intention, we can circulate this inner breath, using it to energize the body, focus the mind, and embrace stillness. This practice helps dispel stagnation, strengthen the body, and support our respiratory health.
An average person breathes about 15-20 times per minute, but with Qigong breath exercises, this frequency can reduce to 6-10 or even 2-5 times per minute. Slow, deep breathing allows our respiratory system to rest, reducing fatigue and easing the physical responses like gasping and heart-pounding that often come with exertion.
DIGESTIVE HEALTH
During our practice, the rhythmic contraction and expansion of our lower abdomen activates and strengthens the metabolic processes. This aids in nutrient absorption and gently massages and supports our stomach, intestines, liver, and spleen, enhancing digestion and circulation.
Nervous System Benefits
Our body’s activities are closely regulated by the nervous system, making it essential to maintain a calm heart and quiet mind during Qigong practice. This unified approach increases our physical endurance and strengthens the cerebellum, which heightens resilience against external stressors.
Cardiovascular Health
With consistent practice, Qigong can help us maintain our cardiovascular health, support stable blood pressure and aid in the prevention of conditions like arteriosclerosis.
Eight Practice Observational Guidelines
- When the heart is calm, the spirit is at ease.
- When the spirit is at ease, the heart is full.
- With a full and still heart, disturbances fade away.
- Without disturbances, breath flows freely.
- When breath flows freely, we transcend surface appearances.
- Through transcendence, we experience heightened awareness.
- This awareness fuses breath and spirit.
- Breath and spirit united open us to a greater connection.
