DEFINING POWER THROUGH THE ARTS

EMOTIONAL TRAUMA HEALING
- Our healing needs to begin with the awareness of our wounded child. We then begin to recognize and not fight our emotions; only embrace.
- In turn, this will bring rise to the powerful energy of mindfulness. Mindfulness, in turn, brings a mighty ally to our struggle- concentration.
- Only then can the beginning stages of relief start to be felt. Allowing us to begin the ardent journey of resolving the trauma and restoring our body’s natural ability to regulate and heal itself.
THE ARTS, INTERNAL & EXTERNAL
The arts are utilized as a catalyst to help reign in our focus and to develop discipline in order for us to create a foundation to begin our healing process.
For example, Shodo, the art of Japanese Calligraphy will help us focus on reviewing a traumatic experience in our life through artistic creation and philosophical understanding.
Qigong will help us heal internally (organs, energy centers, etc.) and Muay Boran is the external component to help assist with focus, discipline, and confidence.

MARTIAL MORALITY
- Morality of Deed.
- Morality of Mind.
With martial morality, a student’s success is determined by exterior appearance (strength or weakness), but rather how the student thinks and their morality.
This is where a strong foundation should come from to help support a positive way of life.
MORALITY OF DEED & MIND
What makes up morality of deed?
- Humility, Respect, Righteousness, Trust, Loyalty.
What makes up morality of mind?
- Will, Endurance, Perseverance, Patience, Courage.
Morality of Deed is considered the more important of the two.
Why? It concerns our relationship with the teacher, other students and martial artists, and the general public.
Morality of Mind is required to reach our final goal: self cultivation.
Within morality of mind there are two minds:
- Emotional.
- Wisdom.
If we fail at something, it usually can be traced back to our thinking being dominated by our emotional mind.

TRUE VICTORY IS VICTORY OVER THE SELF
True Victory Is Victory Over the Self is an old Samurai maxim, “Masakatsu Agatsu”
The only struggle that exists is between you and yourself.
That struggle between you and your spouse, you and your job, you and other people, you and anything and everything else are nothing more than illusions.
To make a change involves effort, devotion, commitment, and sacrifice. Your old self is the one who doesn’t want to change away from your old or current habits that you’re trying to break.
To achieve True Victory requires constant vigilance to keep your old habits at bay so they no longer can hold you back. If you truly want change, growth, passion, achievement, happiness, and VICTORY….
….then you will need to go through the struggle with your old self in order defeat it and lay it to rest, so a new self can be born.
